CJC Jazz Jam Session

Waukee, Iowa – The Waukee Area Arts Council will host the Community Jazz Center of Greater Des Moines’ November Jazz Session on Sunday, November 1 from 2-4 pm at the Waukee Area Arts Council’s new location - ArtsCentral, 405 Maple Street, Waukee. The event is free and open to the public to either listen or participate or both.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to see the RISING STARS of the local jazz community, representing kids from middle schools and high schools across the area,” said Abe Goldstien, board member of the CJC. “Many of our past jam session “kids” have gone on to study at nationally recognized jazz education programs and gone on to be players in NYC, LA, Chicago and yes, even Des Moines!”

“Alec Packer and Hayden Goldstien are Waukee high students who have been attending the jam sessions for the past several years,” said Cindy DePond, President Waukee Area Arts Council. “We hope to draw more local students from Waukee and surrounding areas.”

The students will be accompanied by a trio (keyboards, bass and drums) made up of the finest jazz professionals in the community. However, often times there are talented keyboard players, bassists and drummers who are equally capable of providing the backup.
